I would like to start off by saying that the photo of this book absolutely does NOT do it justice.
I was surprised last week when I received this book in the mail to review here on my blog. I have honestly never seen such a beautiful book in all my life. Even the page edges are covered in gold. Absolutely beautiful. If you have to give a fellow cookie lover an impressive gift, this is the book you want to give them. They’ll never forget it. It shines and sparkles right out of the box!
The Golden Book of Cookies: Over 330 Great Recipes is definitely impressive. So I was eager to try the recipes, and my husband once again begged me to make peanut butter cookies. So I used the Peanut Butter Cookie recipe in this book and they were definitely worth baking again in the future.
The only thing I wasn’t crazy about is that none of the recipes have “introductions”. All you get is the bare bones recipe on each and every page. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, after all, all you need is the recipe. I guess I’m just used to introductions that draw me into a story behind the recipe. But then, that’s just my personal preference.
I intend on baking many more recipes from this book. They all look fabulous! I really liked that a few of the recipes use whole wheat flour. And I was especially excited to see recipes that only used honey as a sweetener because I can easily change out the honey for agave, which I love to bake with.
I would have to say that this is definitely a book worth having on my book shelf. I’m sure it will be there for many years to come.
Happy Baking!
